Toshiba unveils new compact power MOSFET gate driver

KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (Toshiba) unveiled a new compact power MOSFET gate driver intelligent power device (IPD) for automotive 3-phase brushless motors with mass production starting August 2018.

The device is intended for use in automotive motor drive applications such as 12V electronic power steering (EPS), oil or water pumps, fan motors and electric turbochargers, a statement said.

Toshiba´s IPD products provide protection for high-side and low-side power switches, especially valuable in automotive applications. It can be directly controlled from a microcontroller (MCU) and provide diagnostic feedback to the MCU.

The new TPD7212F MOSFET gate driver IPD allows the integration of analog circuitry with large logic and power (DMOS) devices on the same chip which reduces the size and power consumption of automotive systems.

It also offers a huge 75 per cent reduction in area over its predecessor and it is fully qualified to the AEC-Q100 automotive standard and operates at temperatures from -40°C to +150°C.

Toshiba is among the leading general devices companies offering customers and business partners outstanding solutions in discrete semiconductors, system LSIs and HDD. More information at https://toshiba.semicon-storage.com/ap-en/company.html.
